Copper River

AK • US

One of Alaska's great wilderness river journeys: the glacial Copper runs
from the Wrangell-St. Elias high country to the Gulf of Alaska. The
classic Chitina-to-Cordova expedition (~85 miles, 4-6 days) carries you
through Wood Canyon and past the calving faces of the Miles and Childs
glaciers to the Copper River Highway. Mostly fast Class II-III big water;
cold, silty, and remote, with serious wind and weather.
