Crystal River

CO • US

The Crystal River is a free-flowing tributary of the Roaring Fork, running
~35 miles from the high country near Marble down through Redstone and
Avalanche Creek to Carbondale, where it joins the Roaring Fork (which in
turn joins the Colorado at Glenwood Springs). Snowmelt-fed and dam-free, it
peaks late May–June. Bogan Canyon is the marquee Class III-IV run; The
Narrows below Redstone kicks up to Class IV-V; the lower river to Carbondale
mellows to a Class II-III float.
