Fortymile River

AK • US

The Fortymile is a BLM-managed National Wild & Scenic River in eastern
Interior Alaska, accessed from the Taylor Highway near Chicken. A historic
gold-mining river, it offers multi-day Class II-III floats with a few
bigger rapids (The Kink, the Canyon) and a true northern-wilderness feel.
Several forks and put-ins; the most common runs use the South Fork and
main stem toward O'Brien Creek.
