Matanuska River

The Matanuska is a glacial river draining the Matanuska Glacier and
flowing west toward Palmer along the Glenn Highway. Its best-known
whitewater is the Lionhead run, a glacial Class III-IV reach near the
glacier with continuous cold big-water at summer melt. Lower stretches
toward Palmer ease to braided Class II.
