Roaring Fork River

The Roaring Fork River flows 72 miles from the Continental Divide on the
shoulder of Independence Pass down through Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt,
Carbondale, and into the Colorado River at Glenwood Springs. It's a
free-flowing, high-gradient tributary with three distinct character
zones: the Class IV-V Slaughterhouse Falls section above Aspen, the
Class III-IV Toothache / Cemetery commercial runs between Basalt and
Carbondale, and the mellower Class II runs through Glenwood. Peak flows
May-June; runs below ~400 cfs by September.
