Snake River

The Snake River flows 1,078 miles from its headwaters in Yellowstone and
the Teton Wilderness through Jackson Hole, across the Snake River Plain,
and through Hells Canyon — the deepest river gorge in North America —
before joining the Columbia River near Pasco, Washington. Paddleable
reaches include the scenic Grand Teton float, Hoback Canyon's Class III
whitewater, the permit-required Hells Canyon big-water run, and dozens
of irrigation-district flatwater sections in southern Idaho.
