A float permit is available year-round for the Wild section. The control season (May 15 – Oct 15) is allocated by lottery; pre/post-season launches use a self-issued permit available at the Smullin Visitor Center.
The signature multi-day Rogue River trip — 34 miles through the Rogue
River-Siskiyou National Forest. Typically run as a 3-4 day float with
BLM permits (lottery May 15 - Oct 15). Marquee rapids: Rainie Falls
(portageable Class V drop), Mule Creek Canyon (Class IV narrow slot),
and Blossom Bar (Class IV rock garden with the infamous Picket Fence).
